Delaware County Symphony
Sebastian Grand, Music Director
EQUITY STATEMENT
The mission of the Delaware County Symphony (DCS) is to inspire greater appreciation of classical orchestral music by providing a variety of performance and educational experiences to musicians and residents of the region. This mission is best satisfied when all DCS members - musicians, volunteers, paid staff, and board of directors - are afforded the opportunity to grow, contribute, and develop their talents for the betterment of themselves, the orchestra, and our community. These opportunities must be available for all persons regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation, educational level, or disability. We respect and value diverse life experiences and heritages, and strive to ensure that all voices are heard and valued.

The DCS will not only aspire to achieve a more diverse and inclusive organization, but also ensure that all of its members have access to the same opportunities for personal advancement and contribution to the orchestra and the larger community. Mindful that members of marginalized groups have been systematically denied opportunities for achieving their full potential in the arts, we will provide an environment that encourages inclusion and greater participation by musicians, volunteers, and board members from under-represented groups.

We will increase programming of music from more diverse cultures and ethnic groups, and will expand our outreach efforts to include greater contacts with under-represented communities. Our fundamental goal is to ensure that all members of the DCS have the same opportunity to apply their skills and capabilities to the fullest extent possible.
